When looking to offload some players in the summer window, Tottenham Hotspur saw Galatasaray as a solution for a couple of situations they had in their squad.
Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele both headed to the Turkish side, with the defender joining on a permanent €9.5m transfer, and the midfielder moving on loan.
Those transfers were today recalled on TuttoMercatoWeb, as the Italian outlet held an interview with agent George Gardi.
The representative worked on several deals with Turkish clubs this summer, and had some details regarding the Sanchez and Ndombele moves to Galatasaray.
“These players who have arrived are the fruit of work that started a long time ago,” said Gardi.
“Sanchez and Ndombele were my proposals even before the start of the market. You have to consider that all clubs in Europe and around the world look to English clubs when looking for quality, bringing three players from elite Premier teams to Turkey is like climbing a mountain. I am proud that Galatasaray accepted my proposals.
“Ndombele, we are talking about a champion of Italy, on loan at zero with a partially covered wage; and Sanchez arrived permanently. Under these conditions, the competition from other clubs was fierce, hence my pride.”
Ndombele is still making his way into Galatasaray’s team. He’s made five appearances so far, but was mostly brought on at the end of games, having only started in their last match against Antalyaspor. Sanchez seems to be more settled at the new club, with four starts for them so far, also having a goal and two assists, which makes it impressive for a defender.
Now Tottenham can only hope the midfielder starts doing well to convince the Turkish side of a permanent move.
