Richarlison’s return to the national team continues to be the topic of many stories in the Brazilian media.

The Tottenham Hotspur player is having a goal drought, and that’s one of the reasons he was clearly upset in the last international break.

Yesterday, we covered journalist André Rizek sharing a nice message of support for Richarlison. Now, as quoted by UOL, Brazil manager Fernando Diniz also backs the striker.

In a press conference, the manager was asked about the Tottenham star and claimed that despite the lack of goals, the 26-year-old has actually been doing pretty well with the national team.

“When you analyse the games, he made a very positive contribution, so the choice at this point is a technical one. Obviously emotionally it’s also important for him, but it’s a technical choice, he was an important player against both Bolivia and Peru. Unfortunately against Peru, we still don’t know if it was offside or not, he didn’t score. But he was a player who, in my opinion, contributed to us winning both matches
,” said Fernando Diniz.

The manager made it clear that Richarlison’s contribution is very important, and goals won’t dictate whether he’ll keep his starting place in the team.

“If Richarlison had scored a goal in every game he had chances to score, we’d be saying he played superbly and it was the maximum. He didn’t score the goals, but he played well in both games, both tactically and technically.”

The Tottenham striker last scored a goal for Brazil in the World Cup match against South Korea. He’s now set to have two fresh chances to find the net again, as they’re playing Venezuela and Uruguay in the upcoming rounds of World Cup qualifiers.
