Negotiations between Barcelona and Tottenham over Clement Lenglet ‘have stalled’, with Antonio Conte’s departure cooling Spurs’ desire to do a move.
That’s according to Sport, who say that Ange Postecoglou has shown ‘little interest’ in having the Frenchman as part of his squad.
Lenglet spent last season on loan with Tottenham last season and was a regular under Conte, establishing himself as a key player and looking likely to be signed on a permanent basis.
However, that is yet to happen, with the two clubs holding negotiations for much of this summer but failing to strike an agreement that suits them both.
The big issue has largely been the figure demanded by Barcelona, with Tottenham determined to pay as small a price as possible as they’ve assumed they’ll take on Lenglet’s big wages and help Barcelona that way.
There’s been little progress in talks despite a desperation from the Catalans to move Lenglet on and Sport say that is because of Postecoglou.
They explain that negotiations have stalled, and sources close to the player’s entourage admit that Postecoglou has shown ‘little interest’ in having the player to date.
There is still a possibility he’ll change his mind and a transfer is still ‘not completely ruled out’, but for now Tottenham’s manager isn’t interested and that has seemingly held up negotiations.
