This week, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has hinted that the club could make Bruno Martins Indi’s loan become a permanent transfer.
Speaking to the Stoke Sentinel, the boss told them: “We’ve been really impressed with Bruno. Not only his technical ability, but the way he’s forging a relationship with Ryan has certainly helped in recent results and performances,”
“We are pleased with how it’s progressing and at some point in the future we are sure to see if we can speak about maybe making this loan something more permanent.”
As we’ve just said, it was just a hint of something that could happen in the future. Stoke have a buying option over the player until the end of the season, and Hughes didn’t reveal when something could happen.
Well, the Portuguese press aren’t seeing it like that.
A Bola has already made something big out of it, saying the Potters are looking to expedite the permanent deal.
They use Hughes’ quotes as if the manager was ready to activate the clause, as the player has finally gained his old form and is even back in the national set-up
Although the buying option figures were undisclosed, A Bola claims that it should be around €8m. That’s how much Porto have paid to take the player from Feyenoord in 2014 and spent last summer trying to recover it.
