A Bola has a story today claiming that two Benfica players are close to agreeing a move to England for the next season. The Portuguese club are said to be in advanced negotiations to sell the South-American duo Eduardo Salvio and Anderson Talisca.
The most curious thing about the article is that, despite saying that the talks are in advanced stages, the buying clubs are not mentioned at all.
Salvio reportedly has offers from France and England, and Talisca should be heading to the UK as well. The transfers should mean €50m goes to Benfica’s pockets.
A Bola mentions that Salvio is in great form in the pre-season and remembers that the Argentine attracted the interest of Manchester City the last summer. We’re pretty sure he hasn’t been linked to any Premier League sides in the past few months, though.
In Talisca’s case, he was first linked to a Liverpool move. After strange claims that the Reds were paying €25m for such an unproven player, a rumour about a transfer to Wolverhampton showed up.
As Jorge Mendes, who’s Talisca’s agent, has been reportedly helping the Wolves’ rebuild, we couldn’t say that a move to the Championship side is impossible. As A Bola mentions “England” and not “Premier League”, maybe this is the case here. However, it’s still unknown how he’d get a working permit.
And Salvio’s story is really a mystery.
