Andreas Pereira has now landed in São Paulo to begin his spell at Palmeiras, after completing a €10m (£8.4m) move from Fulham.
The midfielder, who signed a contract until December 2028, arrived in Brazil on Monday evening with his family and is expected to be presented at the club in the coming days.
The deal was finalised without any bureaucratic obstacles, ensuring his registration with the Brazilian FA before the transfer window closed on Tuesday.
The timing is seen as ideal by Palmeiras, with the international break giving Andreas close to two weeks to adapt before his likely league debut on 13 September. He is also expected to be available for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores against River Plate.
As relayed by ESPN Brazil, Andreas revealed the club’s persistence was key in his decision: “The interest that Palmeiras showed in me was very special and gratifying. I thank the club for trusting my work and giving me the opportunity to wear the shirt of such a gigantic team. I can’t wait to arrive in Brazil.”
He also highlighted the support from the fans and his first impressions of the club’s infrastructure: “I received countless messages of support that gave me the certainty that I made the right decision when I accepted Palmeiras’ offer. Even in Europe, you don’t see a structure like Palmeiras has, and from what I’ve been told, it has only improved since I visited with the Brazilian national team. Working in a training centre like this is something every professional player dreams of.”
As reported by several local sources last week, Palmeiras and Fulham agreed a €10m transfer fee, but to be paid in installments over four years – a detail that contradicts earlier reports suggesting three years.
With the paperwork now complete and the player already in Brazil, Andreas Pereira is officially ready to start his new chapter in Brazil.
