Sporting are doing everything they can to get Jota Silva through the door before the transfer window slams shut tonight.
After missing out on Brazilian winger Kevin – who is now joining Fulham from Shakhtar Donetsk – Sporting accelerated talks for Jota Silva and are now very close to sealing the move.
According to Portuguese outlets Jornal de Notícias and Maisfutebol, the club are making a final push to land the Nottingham Forest winger on loan, with the same €15m mandatory purchase clause that Marinakis reportedly turned down earlier today.
Brazilian side Botafogo remains the highest bidder: €19m straight, with performance bonuses that could raise the total fee to €23m, based on four separate blocks of 20 matches, as we previously told.
It seems Sporting aren’t willing to go higher than that for now – and that might not be enough to convince the English club. With the deadline set for 23:59 in Portugal, time is tight, but the Lions remain active and confident they can get it done.
Sporting have already confirmed the signing of Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis, and Jota Silva is expected to be the final attacking piece.
