Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil spoke to Turkish TV TivibuSpor after the Premier League side’s win against Manchester City in the FA Cup. Ozil spoke about his future and this season’s ambitions with Arsenal.

TivibuSpor journalist Ozgur Buzbas asked Ozil about his future at Arsenal, given the doubt over whether he’ll renew.

“I have always said I am very happy at Arsenal. I love London, and the lifestyle here is perfect for me. I love my teammates and get along with them very well. But as I’ve said before, the talks will be in the summer. We have to achieve the targets as a team first.

“We were knocked out in the Champions League, we are not in good position in the league we have to sort this first. Our aim is the win the FA Cup and get the 4th spot in the Premier League. These are more important for me and after these we’ll talk about it in the summer.”

Ozil’s future at Arsenal has been put into doubt in recent months with his contract set to expire in June 2018. As yet there have been no signs of Ozil’s representatives sitting down with the Arsenal leaders to discuss extending this beyond this, but there’s likely to be developments in the summer.

Arsenal find themselves in the same situation with Ozil’s teammate Alexis Sanchez, who will also be out of contract in just over a year. As it stands, Ozil has been the focus of the lesser speculation of the two, and his latest comments make an Arsenal stay sound a distinct possibility.
