Granit Xhaka will complete his move from Arsenal to Bayer Leverkusen ‘in the next few days’, with a €15m deal agreed between the two sides.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the Switzerland international will be signing with the German club on a deal until 2027.
Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal over the last week or so, with several reports indicating that Leverkusen were pushing to make a deal happen.
It was explained that Xhaka was open to the move as he wished to return to Germany and even that Arsenal had opened to the possibility of letting the midfielder leave, despite him being a key player under Mikel Arteta this season.
A deal has been rapidly picking up pace since that point and SportBILD back this up, stating that it is all but done.
They say that Leverkusen are keen to ensure they add an ‘emotional, central midfielder with a winning mentality’ to Xavi Alonso’s squad and Xhaka is the man they’ve identified.
They state that Alonso, who has committed his own future to the club despite interest from Real Madrid, ‘will get him’ and a €15m deal, with a contract until 2027, ‘will go through’ in the next few days.
