Santiago Gimenez’s agent was at Brighton and Hove Albion’s clash with Manchester City last night ahead of a possible move to the south coast in the summer.

That’s according to Mexican journalist Julio Rodríguez, who say Brighton are one of ‘several teams’ interested in signing the Feyenoord striker this summer.

Giménez has burst onto the scene in the Netherlands this season, playing a key role in Feyenoord’s title success with 15 goals and three assists in 31 games in the Eredivisie and 23 in 44 in all competitions.

That’s an impressive tally, to say the least, for a player who only moved to Europe in the summer in a €4m move from Cruz Azul in America.

It’s a tally that has not gone unnoticed either, with several Premier League teams all reported to be keeping an eye on the 22-year-old’s performances.

Brighton are one of them and a report in April made it clear that they were one of the sides chasing his signature ahead of a busy summer for them.

Rodríguez now follows that up and stated that the Mexican’s agent was at Brighton’s clash with Manchester City last night, which finished 1-1, presumably to watch the Seagulls in action.

He explains how they’ve been named among the ‘interested’ parties in the striker and adds that being managed by Roberto De Zerbi would ‘undoubtedly’ be ‘great news’ for Gimenez’s career moving forwards.

He doesn’t say that Brighton have made a bid or are pushing to sign the player as yet, but his agent’s presence at their last home game of the season suggests that there is something going on behind the scenes and he could be on his way there this summer.
