Aston Villa are unlikely to sign Sevilla defender Loic Bade this summer, unless there is an ‘unexpected turn of events’.
That’s according to AS, who say the ‘train has already left’ on that front and Aston Villa are pursuing other targets this summer instead.
The newspaper explains that while Bade is destined to leave Sevilla in the coming weeks and months, particularly after shining for France in the international break, it won’t be for Villa Park.
Aston Villa tried to sign him in the January transfer window, but the defender ultimately turned them down. They had been credited as suitors again, particularly with a sale now seen as certain.
But AS say that there were doubts on both sides after the January affair. Aston Villa couldn’t reach an agreement with the 25-year-old and now, their focus is elsewhere.
That may be for the best too. We’d already warned them that Bade had almost claimed he wasn’t suited to English football in recent comments, so the move would not be a smart one on that front anyway.
Coupled with him not being seemingly keen it wasn’t adding up and it seems Aston Villa agree, with Monchi and co turning their focus elsewhere.
