Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is ‘more than willing’ to join Aston Villa this summer and reunite with Unai Emery.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say the Argentine would be happy to remain in England and become part of the project at Aston Villa.
The newspaper reports that Lo Celso has been trying for several seasons to find somewhere to fit in, with it increasingly obvious Tottenham isn’t the ideal place for him.
All signs are pointing towards a permanent exit for him this summer as he only has a year left on his contract and was barely used by Ange Postecoglou this season.
Unai Emery is a great admirer of the midfielder, who he worked with at Villarreal. Lo Celso has made 86 appearances under the Spanish coach, managing eight goals and ten assists. That’s the second-best tally of his career, topped only by his 17 goals and nine assists for Quique Setién.
He’s willing to make a move to take him to Aston Villa this summer and the midfielder would be ‘more than willing’ to swap London for Birmingham too.
That will require a deal being done with Tottenham but given his status under Postecoglou and his expiring contract, the obstacles seem minimum, and a deal is looking increasingly possible.
