Andrea Ranocchia’s agents talking to Premier League clubs is starting to be something of a transfer window tradition. The Inter Milan defender has been linked to half the Premier League over the past year, but nothing has ever come of it.
In their Monday edition Gazzetta dello Sport claim Ranocchia is ‘talking to West Ham and Hull City’ about a January switch. Inter Milan are keen to get their former captain’s wages off the accounts, and have felt that way for some time.
Several Premier League clubs were linked last week and Gazzetta have now narrowed it down to West Ham and Hull City. That Slaven Bilic has just signed Jose Fonte from Southampton is completely ignored, but it shouldn’t be… Ranocchia to West Ham would make even less sense now than it did before.
Hull City would be a curious move too, Ranocchia is said to not be keen on the idea, and that’s understandable, but also from the English club’s point, it doesn’t sound like a good idea to bring in a defender down on confidence who isn’t used to the league.
