Everton’s agreement with Paris Saint Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye is now backed up by more French sources.
Earlier on Tuesday, it had been Paris United and Fabrice Hawkins who reported the deal between the Toffees and their former player.
Now it’s Goal France journalist Marc Mechenoua who comes up to talk about this ‘contractual agreement’ between Gueye and Everton. It’s said they shook hands for a two-year commitment.
The 32-year-old is now waiting for a ‘green light’ from Paris Saint Germain, so he can complete the move to Goodison Park.
It’s been repeatedly reported in France that PSG had marked out Gueye as one of the undesirable players in their squad. That means that following an agreement with the player, Everton shouldn’t find any difficulty in reaching a deal with the Ligue 1 side.
The Toffees made €30m when selling the midfielder to the Parisian club back in 2019, and can certainly have him now for a lot less. For now, we’re still to see how much Christophe Galtier’s side will get for the move.
