Player punished for rejecting Leeds United multiple times – Has ‘no prospects’ at club

Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri rejected Leeds United in the last window.

The midfielder flew to England to hold talks with the Whites after they agreed a deal with the Bundesliga side but he couldn’t find an agreement with Leeds. There was a lot of back and forth, agreements and denial, before the deal collapsed.

Leverkusen have left the 26-year-old out of their squad for the Europa League group stage and today’s Rheinische Post suggests this is because he snubbed Leeds.

It’s said the player, who made a late substitute appearance against RB Leipzig on August 19th, has ‘no prospects’ at the German club.

RP’s claim is backed up by Kicker as they also state the Germany international’s decision to turn down Daniel Farke’s side three times in the last two weeks of the window was a ‘factor’ in Leverkusen’s decision to omit him from the Europa League squad.

It’s said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes and manager Xabi Alonso had doubts about Amiri’s commitment to his current employer, after he kept changing his stance so often over joining Leeds.

Even though the player has shown ‘strong fighting spirt’, the report explains that Rolfes and Alonso weren’t convinced.

To sum it up, Amiri is now facing the ‘consequence’ of rejecting Leeds.
