Earlier today, it was reported that Aston Villa are now ‘very close’ to signing Villarreal’s Juan Foyth.

El Peridioco Meditteraneo were confident that advanced talks were taking place between the parties, and Unai Emery would get a defender he’s long been a fan of.

The same newspaper have reported an update about the defender and it’s another big sign that Aston Villa are close to getting the 27-year-old.

They now report that Foyth is awaiting a solution for his situation and wants a definitive response about his future at Villarreal, who take on Real Valladolid on Saturday.

While all the media attention during Villarreal’s training sessions on Monday and Tuesday was supposed to be on the Argentine, he did not train with the squad at all, waiting news ahead of a potential Aston Villa move.

Unai Emery managed Foyth during his time at the Yellow Submarines and together, they won the UEFA Europa League in 2021. He also tried to sign him for PSG, but Tottenham beat the French club in a fierce transfer tussle.

Foyth made 32 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur across three seasons in London.
