After a while without being mentioned in connection with the club, Ao Tanaka has been thrown back into the Leeds United picture in the final days of the window.
The Championship club appear to be in the market for multiple additions before Friday night, as they work to aid the long battle of securing a return to the Premier League.
There’s some interesting takes from Germany on Wednesday afternoon, in relation to Tanaka’s future.
Bild state the 24-year-old wasn’t involved in Fortuna Dusseldorf training this morning. The German newspaper insist the player has always showed great professionalism, and therefore the idea he’s on strike is completely dismissed.
However, it’s also stated Tanaka and Fortuna have a concrete transfer offer… from Leeds United. Tanaka being out of training looks like protection.
There’s some confusion over an exit clause with the Whites said to be prepared to pay €3m, which Bild suggest relates to a buyout fee, but they then say that’s not valid now and therefore the amount is ‘freely negotiable’.
Nothing is ever simple for Leeds United.
