Rangers are closing in on signing Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz, with Danny Röhl keen to add a midfielder.

The 23-year-old joined the Austrian club in 2023 from Lyngby in his native Denmark. He’s been a regular for them this season, playing on the left of midfield or more centrally.

Rangers have been searching for a midfielder, and Sky Austria report the Ibrox club could pay €4.6m. Chukwuani has been training normally with Sturm Graz, and has no injury concerns.

Therefore, that he wasn’t in the squad for a friendly today against Club Brugge has seen assumptions he’s on the verge of that Rangers move. Like some other leagues around Europe, Austria has a winter break, hence the need for friendlies before the season restarts.

Kronen Zeitung have a journalist based at Sturm Graz’s Marbella training camp. The potential move to Rangers is obviously causing a lot of chatter. Subsequently, the Austrian newspaper have asked sporting director Michael Parensen what’s going on.

Parensen didn’t want to confirm Chukwuani is joining Danny Röhl’s side, but he didn’t deny it either. Developments are likely in the coming hours.
