On Tuesday, the Italian media were at least half raising the white flag for Fiorentina and their efforts to sign Radu Dragusin. La Viola have been keen on the Tottenham Hotspur defender for weeks.

Fabio Paratici has been key, with the transfer guru expected to swap Spurs for Fiorentina in the coming weeks. However, the defender himself isn’t convinced on moving to the Tuscany club.

Dragusin arrived at Tottenham with his agent talking about Sours being a stepping stone to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Going to Fiorentina, who are in Serie A’s relegation zone, wouldn’t fit with how the 23-year-old’s camp see his career.

There’s also been interest elsewhere in Serie A. Should a club further up the table make an approach then maybe things will be different.

Gianluca Di Marzio now reports AS Roma have returned to the picture for the Romanian.

Roma are fifth in Serie A, and whilst not one of the favourites, they’re not out of the title fight. The capital club are ‘accelerating their efforts’ to sign the Tottenham player.

There’s been new contact in recent hours, and Roma are pushing for a transfer.

Radu Dragusin would have more prominence with Roma than he’s expected to get with Tottenham. Now, it’s over to the player’s camp to see if this is more tempting.
