Barcelona’s Marc Guiu is ‘one step way’ from Chelsea, according to Monday’s edition of AS.
The striker has managed two goals from seven games since making his first team debut for the La Liga side last season. His deal lasts until 2025 and includes a €6m release clause.
Bayern Munich and Sevilla have shown interest, while Barca have been trying to extend his contract. These teams are set to be left behind by Chelsea.
The Catalan club consider the 18-year-old as a player with ‘great potential’. Renewal negotiations haven’t been successful because their financial limitations didn’t allow them to match the Blues proposal.
Chelsea have made a ‘very attractive offer’ to the youngster, and if it goes through he will be part of Enzo Maresca’s plans next season.
The Blues manager convinced Guiu after holding discussions with him several times. As well as the west London club’s project, the Barca player believes he would ‘fit like a glove’ in the Premier League. These factors have convinced him to opt for Chelsea’s proposal.
AS say Chelsea will pay the frontman’s €6m clause. They further add Guiu’s transfer to the Premier League side could be ‘officially announced’ in the ‘next few hours’.
