Gianluca Scamacca is having a bit of a tense moment at his new club Atalanta after his big exit from West Ham United this summer.
Italian outlet Calciomercato today reports the ‘bad news’ about the centre-forward, as he suffered a muscle strain in his left flexor.
That took place in Atalanta’s match against Fiorentina, and according to the outlet, there will be a diagnostic about the injury in the next few hours.
There’s some big expectation about it, because despite his short time on the pitch so far, Scamacca had two goals in four appearances for the Serie A side since the move from West Ham.
It’s only on Wednesday that Atalanta are set to have an official position on how long Scamacca will take to recover, but Calciomercato already claims that the striker will ‘almost certainly’ not take part in the games against Rakow Czestochowa on Thursday and versus Cagliari on Sunday.
The Italian club made a big investment in Scamacca, paying West Ham €25m for the transfer and handing him a four-year contract.
Now it would be a big blow if he gets sidelined for a while.
