Over the last few months, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with a move for Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.
Earlier this month, it was suggested that the player was close to joining Brentford in the summer but the move never materialised. Previous reports said Brighton were an interested party for the player.
However, it now seems the Seagulls and the Bees will not be able to sign the 23-year-old in January.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported Genoa want to keep hold of Frendrup beyond the next window and that they’ve already communicated this to the player’s agent.
Genoa see the Dane as a key part of the side under Patrick Vieira, having played 19 times in all competitions this season.
The club’s goal is to make sure Frendrup remains a key player going into the second half of the Serie A season.
It seems for now Brighton and Brentford will have to wait until the summer to land the Genoa man.
