Gunebakis have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of Paul Onuachu, who is set to return to Southampton this summer.
The forward is currently on loan at Trabzonspor and has impressed this season with the Super Lig side, but they won’t pay what the Saints are asking for a permanent deal.
According to the Turkish media outlet, Southampton are considering keeping Onuachu, and using him, if they are able to get promotion back to the Premier League. This weekend the Saints face West Bromwich Albion in the 1st leg of the semi final play-offs.
He’s been prolific since arriving in Turkey and if he can reproduce this form he may still have a Southampton future.
However, it’s reported if they fail to regain their top flight status then the player is expected to be offloaded either on loan again or sold permanently.
This week there were reports Trabzonspor, Besiktas and Goztepe were all interested in the Southampton player and that his agent was taking to all three clubs. The Championship side value the forward in the region of €12m.
Onuachu signed for Trabzonspor last summer on a season long loan deal and has scored 13 goals in 23 appearances for the Turkish side. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
