Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane is aware of interest from Liverpool but is yet to decide on his future, preferring to wait until the summer.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who says the forward ‘knows about’ the interest from Liverpool but is holding off for the time being.
Sane has been in impressive form for Bayern Munich this season, with eight goals and 11 assists in 20 games in the Bundesliga to date.
He’s very much a key player under Thomas Tuchel but there is a big question mark about his future at the club as his current deal expires in June 2025.
That means he will be entering the final year of his deal in the summer and so a decision will need to be made. Either he extends his contract with the Bavarian champions, or they sell him to avoid losing him on a free the following year.
At the moment no new contract has been signed and so speculation has begun that he will be on the move, with reports in England that Liverpool are in the mix for him.
They may need a replacement for Mohamed Salah this summer as he’s being consistently targeted by Saudi Arabian clubs and Sane would fit the bill.
According to Falk, the Germany international is aware of this interest too, but is yet to make a definitive decision on his future.
“That’s true, Leroy Sane is on the list at Liverpool FC,” he said.
“As far as I have heard the Bayern player knows about this interest, but he has not yet decided how to proceed. He has changed his management and wants to decide in the summer.
“Of course, at Liverpool, Mo Salah might go to Saudi Arabia. In the summer there was an offer, but Liverpool are still not sure whether to let their superstar go. I have heard that Liverpool can even imagine letting him go on a free transfer as they’ve already made their money back from what they paid Roma for him.
“A lot now depends on whether or not he leaves. Another problem is that in the end Sane decides he likes it better in Munich anyway and decides to stay.”
