Last month, Takvim reported Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have Fenerbahçe’s Kim Min-jae on their radar.
Spurs wanting the centre-back is now being discussed in Italy as Napoli are also showing interest in him.
The Serie A side will see Kalidou Koulibaly leave them for Chelsea and it is their priority to bring in a replacement.
This is where the South Korea international fits in as he is the main target for the Naples club. They are joined by Tottenham and other clubs.
That’s according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, who state Napoli must ‘beat the competition’ from Spurs, Everton and Rennes to sign the 25-year-old this summer.
Area Napoli also explain that Min-jae is the first name on the Italian club’s list to replace Koulibaly. There has been serious contacts to sign the defender, who is looking to leave Turkey for a league that is more challenging.
The defender has been hoping for it to be Tottenham in the Premier League, but Antonio Conte’s side have so far made other choices for the heart of the defence. Rennes have stopped any approaches as they are not willing to meet the Süper Lig side’s demands.
Fenerbahçe want their star’s €18m [plus taxes] termination clause to be paid in one shot, while Napoli want a discount and prefer to pay the fee in instalments. Min-jae earns €2m per year and wants his salary to be improved to €3m at his new club.
Both Fenerbahçe and Napoli are set to have a new round of talks, and the intermediaries hope some progress will be made in the operation to take Min-jae to Italy.
