Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jo is expected at Nottingham Forest on Thursday before joining up with Olympiakos.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the player will travel to Nottingham tomorrow for his medical before completing his move from Bordeaux.

Reports this summer have linked Hwang with a move away from Bordeaux, who need to raise funds to ease a financial crisis engulfing the club.

Hwang is one of the more saleable assets and has been named as a target for clubs around Europe, including some in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest are currently leading the race for his signature, but their plan is for him to sign and then join owner Angelos Marinakis’ other club, Olympiakos, on loan for the season.

Hwang was initially not keen on that idea but has been talked around and a move is now progressing as a result.

Indeed, L’Equipe report that the striker is ‘expected’ at Nottingham Forest on Thursday for a medical, with a €4m plus €1m deal in place with Bordeaux.

Once the medical checks are completed, he will be then be loaned out to Olympiakos ‘in the aftermath’, or in other words, straight after passing it.
