Last summer, Hannes Delcroix returned to Burnley after spending the second of last season on loan at Swansea City. The centre-back played 12 matches for Swans and said he enjoyed his temporary spell in Wales.
Scott Parker hasn’t considered him this season, forcing the centre-back to settle for game time with Burnley U21s.
Two months ago, the 26-year-old admitted he could consider leaving Burnley in the winter market. Fast forward to December and Sky Deutschland report FC Lugano interest in securing his services.
It’s claimed the Burnley player is close to joining the Swiss club. Negotiations are at an advanced stage, and could be concluded soon as the report states an agreement with the Clarets is ‘imminent’.
The operation is so advanced that Lugano have already scheduled the Belgium-born Haiti international’s medical. Sky indicates these examinations could be carried out this week.
Delcroix seems determined to get his career back on track. A transfer to the Swiss club would mean regular minutes, which is needed for him to represent Haiti at the World Cup.
Sky haven’t specified whether Lugano are looking to sign Delcroix on loan or a permanent transfer. A loan with a purchase option may be the acceptable solution for all parties involved.
