Switzerland international Remo Freuler spent the 2022/23 season at Nottingham Forest.

After that, the midfielder was loaned out to Bologna and he later joined the Serie A side on a permanent basis.

This season, the 32-year-old has played in the Champions League with the Rossoblu, who are eighth in the table but are in contention to qualify for the Champions League once again.

Freuler has played 33 times in all competitions, becoming a veteran figure in midfield and something of a leader.

Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, have looked at the player today. They state that Freuler has brought a ‘winning mentality’ to Bologna that helps them excel in terms of ambition and consistency.

The newspaper hail the ex-Atalanta player’s intelligence as a player, stating that his presence on the pitch always inspires teammates and instils a sense of confidence.

They also add some background to Freuler’s move away from Nottingham Forest, stating that Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartari was key to the transfer. As soon as he saw the opportunity to sign the Swiss star, he went for it.

The report believes that Nottingham Forest ‘failed to exploit’ the chance of making the most out of a Champions League level player, as Freuler played 33 times in the 2022/23 season for the Tricky Trees.

Considering how well Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are doing in the Premier League, this is probably one they’ll get over.
