Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion were said to have shown interest in RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra in the winter market.

The Premier League duo weren’t able to complete the operation in January. That hasn’t put off Everton and Brighton as they have Diarra on their agenda for the summer window.

That’s according to L’Equipe, and they cover a detailed piece on the Ligue 1 side, owned by BluesCo, who also own Chelsea.

The Senegal international is ‘particularly’ courted in the Premier League, where Everton and Brighton are his interested parties.

Strasbourg recorded a €14m loss for the 2023/24 season and that will increase to €100m for this season. They have to improve their finances and L’Equipe explain Diarra could be their major sale of the next window.

They further add it would ‘imperative’ for the French club to sell the Everton and Brighton target to comply with DNGC [France] and UEFA’s regulations.

The 21-year-old has a contract until 2028, and the report makes no mention of the fee requested by Strasbourg. He’s managed four goals and three assists from 26 league games this season.
