Brighton & Hove Albion’s pursuit of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi became a strong rumour recently, with many reports from England and Italy talking about it.
In the past few weeks, we covered stories saying the Seagulls are ‘closer and closer’ to making an attempt for the transfer, as Roberto De Zerbi likes the player ‘a lot’.
Now as Frattesi today had a conversation with the Italian media, Gazzetta Dello Sport brings the quotes which should be of big interest to Brighton.
First of all, the midfielder made it clear he knows he’s a wanted man in the transfer market, and claimed he’ll be making a deep analysis of the club he’d join.
“I told my agent to call me only if there are important proposals. In my choice, the club’s game and tactics will be decisive. For me, a three-man midfield is better where you need a midfielder. And a team that plays a good game.”
Now for Brighton and other Premier League sides who are interested in Frattesi, there’s a message from the player claiming he’s not that focused on leaving Italy right now, instead keen on improving his football by continuing in Serie A.
“Scamacca, Zaniolo, Gnonto and others have left to play. Some got it wrong, for sure. Ours is the only championship that denigrates its players and looks for them abroad. I know that one day I will go to another championship, but calmly. I’ve always gone step by step. Three years in Serie B, two in Sassuolo, now I have to grow up in Italy, then abroad if necessary.”
It was recently reported by the Italian media that a €40m bid arrived for Frattesi, but the name of the interested club wasn’t revealed.
