The transfer saga of Dimitri Payet has dragged on throughout the January window and become the saga which could define this year’s winter market.
The Hammers have refused to lower their asking price, whilst the Frenchman wants to return to his former club. Latest reports suggest Marseille have made a bid of €29m + €2m for Payet and are still negotiating with West Ham.
On Thursday, according to L’Equipe, the arrival of Patrice Evra at Marseille has left Payet disappointed, as he has been waiting himself to return to Marseille.
L’Equipe say Payet has already packed his bags and Marseille have also agreed a €7m/year contract with the Frenchman. However, Payet is waiting for Marseille to reach an agreement with West Ham, but the Premier League side want a deal close to €35m.
It’s reported West Ham are getting frustrated of the entire situation and are themselves keen on selling Payet. Meanwhile, Marseille have other alternatives, but signing the 29-year-old is a priority for the Ligue 1 club.
