Is Tottenham and Leicester’s target Islam Slimani better than Jamie Vardy? Jorge Jesus thinks so. In an interview with A Bola, the Sporting manager said his striker would shine in the Premier League.
Just like every other week, Jesus was asked about the English clubs’ interest in Slimani, with Tottenham and Leicester mentioned once more. He had the standard reply about the price, but this time, thought he should reveal how good his player is.
He will score double the number of goals
“I don’t even know who are interested in Slimani. This matter is for Sporting’s president. Slimani has a release clause of €30m, which for the English that’s nothing, and I was doing a comparison. If Vardy was the top scorer playing like that, if Slimani goes to England, if he has a coach as it should be, he will score double the number of goals.
“Watch Vardy’s characteristics… it’s obvious that Slimani could go to the team where Vardy plays, Leicester…. he would be riding a little horse on the pitch,” Jorge Jesus told a Bola, meaning how easy it would be for the Algerian striker.
Slimani has been linked to more than half of the Premier League’s clubs this year, but lately, it’s Tottenham and the Foxes who are most linked, with claims they’re ready to meet his release clause.
