Real Betis are on the verge of signing their second player from Leeds United this summer, with a deal for Diego Llorente now within reach of the Sevilla club.
They had Marc Roca on loan at the club last season and were able to secure another loan deal for the coming campaign, given Leeds United failed to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Instead, Real Betis wanted to take the player permanently and did so for a fee of around €5m.
They then turned their attention to Diego Llorente, who had been out on loan at AS Roma last season. The central defender had done quite well for the Serie A club, and was even linked to PSG in January, but they didn’t move ahead to secure him permanently.
Real Betis have moved into that void, and Sunday’s edition of Marca says that after a first attempt to agree a deal with Leeds United, which failed, the ‘operation could now be closed’ for the Spaniard.
The fee to take Llorente to Real Betis is put at €4m.
There’s optimism it’s now close.
