Manchester City youngster Yan Couto has been hailed as ‘one of the sensations’ of this season after his start to the campaign with Girona and his debut with the senior Brazilian side.
Mundo Deportivo cover him today and how he has now achieved his dream of playing for the national side, which comes as a reward following ‘the great performance’ he’s been enjoying with Girona.
They explain that Couto had not expected to be a part of the national set up at this moment in time, but an injury to Renan Lodi presented him with his chance and he was brought on by Fernando Diniz.
Couto did not disappoint, putting in a good performance and setting himself up for future inclusion after already playing for the various youth ranks.
He’s been slowly rising in football for a few years, with his performances at the U-17 World Cup, alongside his time at Coritiba FC, having ‘caught the attention’ of Manchester City.
They opened the doors to Europe for him and have subsequently sent him out on various loans, first to Girona, then to Braga, and then back to Girona this season.
It’s this loan which has proved to be his best so far, with Girona currently second in La Liga and Couto ‘one of the sensations’ with a goal and two assists in eight games so far.
His performances will be delighting Manchester City, who may have another top young talent on their hands and have now seen him make his senior debut for Brazil, another major step forward in his development.
