West Brom defender Michael Parker has told the Swedish media he’s enjoying his time with Örgryte IS.
The 21-year-old is currently on trial with the Allsvenskan club, with his chances at the Hawthorns being limited.
Speaking to Goteborgs-Posten, the West Brom youngster was asked about his experiences in Sweden and whether he wants a move to ÖIS.
Parker said he would be interested in a transfer given what he’s already experienced in Gothenburg.
The central defender said he’s enjoyed his time in the country and now it’s up to others.
“’I’m open to coming here. I’ve enjoyed being here these two weeks. Now it’s up to God. What he wants will happen,” said the young West Brom defender.
Director keen on West Brom player
ÖIS sporting director Pontus Farnerud has also been quizzed by the Gothenburg newspaper and asked if his club to sign the West Brom player.
Farnerud explained they are speaking to Parker’s agent and that the player is happy with the situation.
However, the ÖIS director said a decision can only be made once they know the transfer costs, and have held negotiations with West Brom.
“I can’t say that here and now. But we will of course talk to the agent shortly. Then we’ll see. That’s the most interesting thing for us, then it’s a bit about costs, what it would entail. Then we have to prioritise in relation to other positions and players that we are looking at. We have had a good dialogue with the agent and that the player has got a good feeling for the club. Then you never know, that’s how it is,” said Farnerud
Parker spent the start of the season on loan at Hereford United, making 10 league appearances for the National North League club. Since returning to West Brom, he’s been involved with the U21 side.
He’s contracted to the Baggies until June 2027.
