Nottingham Forest target Douglas Luiz would have favoured a move to a club like Manchester United in the winter market, according to Corriere dello Sport.

On March 22nd, we covered claims from Italy that Nottingham Forest will return for Luiz in the summer window, after failing to sign him in January.

Corriere again point out Nottingham Forest’s failed approach and mention Manchester United.

The Brazil international has struggled at the Turin club since joining them from Aston Villa last summer. He’s played 795 minutes from 22 games and his minutes were limited partly due to injuries.

Luiz has until the end of the season or perhaps until the Club World Cup to save his Juve future.

Nottingham Forest already looked at him in the last window, but the 26-year-old didn’t want to join them. Luiz wanted to stay in Italy at least a year because he loves the city and the weather (Turin isn’t exactly tropical).

The newspaper states the midfielder would have only changed his mind for a club like Manchester City or Manchester United. This choice isn’t only based on money but prestige.

Nottingham Forest, who are likely to qualify for the Champions League next season, are still said to be interested in Luiz.

According to Corriere, Juve need at least €40m to avoid loss and that’s the figure they are looking for to sell Luiz. The Reds are now told the fee needed to secure his services in the next window.

It isn’t clear whether he would favour joining Nottingham Forest or if he still prefers the likes of Manchester United.
