As Nottingham Forest stand out as one of the potential destinations for Benfica fullback Alejandro Grimaldo this summer, there’s good and bad news brought to the Reds.
That comes from an update by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, who claim that despite the Eagles efforts to give the 27-year-old a new contract, they’ve been finding resistance from his side.
The good news for Nottingham Forest is that Grimaldo reportedly ‘dreams’ of moving to the Premier League. Despite contacts from Spanish, Italian and German clubs, he prefers moving to England.
And the Tricky Trees are named as one of the clubs who made ‘more or less concrete’ approaches to sign him as a free agent this summer.
What Nottingham Forest may be concerned about is Grimaldo actually plans to play for a club of ‘bigger expression’. He’s become used to fighting for titles at Benfica, and would have to change that scenario if moving to the City Ground.
So it seems the Reds, just like the player, will have to wait and see what will show up at his table between now and the summer.
The fact of playing the Premier League may help Forest to get the signing, but they better hope that no English giants show up competing for him.
