Botafogo have now received an official offer from Nottingham Forest for defender Jair, which is now being analysed.

That’s according to GE Globo, who report that Nottingham Forest have stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old with an official bid.

They report that Botafogo have received a proposal from Nottingham Forest for Jair, after also receiving a proposal from the same club for striker Igor Jesus.

The Brazilian club are currently studying the numbers proposed by Nottingham Forest. The amounts have not been disclosed but are higher than those Botafogo paid to sign the defender in the January transfer window.

He was acquired for around €13.72m, so Nottingham Forest’s current offer for him is believed to be higher than this. Jair is seen as a promising youngster by Botafogo, who may be reluctant to sell.

Journalist Jorge Nicola reported earlier today that he was one of three Botafogo players currently being targeted by Nottingham Forest this summer. The other two were Igor Jesus and Cuiabano.

It seems a formal bid has now been made for two of them, so expect a potential bid for Cuiabano sooner rather than later also.
