Nottingham Forest are quickly formulating a new offer for Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez and refuse to give up on him just yet.
That’s according to Soccer News, relaying information from Voetbal International, who say that an agreement ‘still seems far away’ at this moment in time despite a renewed effort.
The newspaper reports that Nottingham Forest are expected to come up with a new offer for the Mexican striker soon. That is expected ‘today, tomorrow or this week’.
However, both Feyenoord and Giménez are yet to be convinced that a sale would make sense. The latter could earn €3-4m a year from Nottingham Forest but doubts their project on a sporting level.
While he would be in the Premier League, he would also miss out on the Champions League. And he could be involved in a relegation fight as well.
Feyenoord, meanwhile, are hoping to earn more from any sale. They could even reject any transfers this summer in the hope he shines in the Champions League this season.
That would see his value increase considerably and the Dutch club secure an even better deal. On the other hand, he could fail, and they end up missing out.
It’s a gamble they’re currently taking, perhaps hoping Nottingham Forest significantly up their bid to a price that they simply can’t refuse.
