On June 20th, UOL stated Chelsea are interested in signing Murillo but are finding it hard to match the €60m fee requested by Nottingham Forest.
Last week, the British media backed up Chelsea’s desire to sign the defender in the summer window. They also said the Reds would need £70m [€82.m] to sanction his sale.
The Nottingham Forest star was a guest on Benja Me Mucho, where journalist Benjamin Back asked him about the latest reports linking him to Chelsea, and his comments are relayed by PL Brasil.
Responding to that, he said: “I don’t know if it’s 70 [million pounds], but I know there’s been a rumour of interest. So, I don’t know exactly how much it is, but I know there was interest.”
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side signed the 21-year-old from Corinthians last summer. Prior to his arrival in Europe, the Brazilian spent his playing career in his homeland.
The centre-back is of the belief that Nottingham Forest are the stepping stone for him to join a big club.
“It was my opinion, because I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I said: ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then go to a big club.’ I had this in my head,” Murillo explained.
PL Brasil claim the player even joked about the option of joining Chelsea when discussing the idea of moving to a top club.
