Nottingham Forest’s offer to Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel was the best proposal on the table and they should complete his signing next week.

That’s according to GE, who say Nottingham Forest need to pay the goalkeeper’s release clause in the next few days.

They report that Miguel should be on his way to Nottingham Forest in the near future after the drama and battle with West Ham for his signature this week.

According to their information Miguel had proposals from England, Spain and Italy but Nottingham Forest’s proposal was the best and they have won the race.

The goalkeeper wants to play in the Premier League and that has seduced him, with Kia Joorabchian brokering matters alongside Giuliano Bertolucci.

He initially got involved in the deal for both Nottingham Forest and West Ham but then contacted Bertolucci in Brazil. It was through the latter that the proposal reached the player’s agent, Gilmar Veloz and the trio have been working for the last two weeks to get a deal done.

A definitive decision as made in the last few days and Carlos Miguel has not told Corinthians he will be departing. He is set to leave immediately, and he will be heading to Nottingham Forest as their offer is the best.

Corinthians are trying to convince him to stay but he wants to move to England, where he has been offered a five-year contract by Forest and the number one spot, something that has convinced him to choose them instead of West Ham.

The payment of his €4m clause is expected to be paid in the next few days and the deal completed after that.
