Nottingham Forest’s interest in Alexis Saelemaekers has been building in recent weeks, but he’s quite happy where he is in Italy.
That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, who report that the winger would prefer to stay at Roma after spending this season on loan at the club from AC Milan.
They explain that with the season heading toward the final stretch, it’s time to starting thinking about building next years teams. Roma have plenty of dots to connect with the priority focus on replacing Claudio Ranieri.
In the squad, one of the matters to deal with is Saelemaekers, who is on loan from Milan and has had an excellent impact so far.
Roma would like to keep him and Milan value him at €20-25m, a significant figure that Roma would like to lower.
Il Messaggero explains, though, that Nottingham Forest have also shown an interest in the Belgian and that interest has been growing in recent weeks. The problem for them is that Saelemaekers seems to have ‘given preference’ to staying at Roma.
That means Nottingham Forest might have to put on the charm offensive if they want to convince him to move to the Premier League this summer.
There is, however, always the chance meddlers close to AC Milan have decided they need competition to make AS Roma pay up, and Nottingham Forest have had their name thrown in there.
