With Newcastle United still named as one of the potential destinations for Gonçalo Ramos next season, they better get prepared for how much the striker is set to cost.
According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias today, Benfica will use his €120m release clause as a reference to negotiate him in the summer.
It’s claimed that Ramos used to have a price of just €40m at the start of the season.
However, the 24 goals he has for the Eagles since then, plus the three he scored in the World Cup, convinced the club to demand much more for his sale, and his value has now tripled in their eyes.
Jornal de Notícias mentions that Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Newcastle and Paris Saint Germain are those most linked to him.
Knowing how much of a difference he can make at Benfica, the Eagles already stopped his exit in the January transfer window, and now prepare to be tough negotiators in the summer as well.
The newspaper claims a contract renewal is being worked on, but there’s no mention of an increase in his release clause, and the €120m fee is indeed what Newcastle should have as a reference.
