If Newcastle United are still interested in trying to sign Hugo Ekitike next summer, as previous reports have suggested they might be, they appear to have been handed a boost by Paris Saint-Germain.

The young French forward was a target for the Magpies over a year ago, soon after the PIF takeover, but Stade de Reims stood firm and the player decided to finish the season at his club.

Then came the summer, when Newcastle tried again, but Paris Saint-Germain won the race with a loan and an almost mandatory option to buy, but the move hasn’t worked out, as explained by Le Parisien.

The newspaper look at what went wrong for the youngster over the course of the season, and despite having a very professional attitude and working hard, he does have a lot of competition in front of him.

Ekitike is ‘determined to turn his position around’ at the Ligue 1 side, but it seems the player might not be given the time to do so, as PSG have ‘already decided to place him on the transfer list’ in the upcoming transfer window.

That’s why there’s a big opportunity here for Newcastle to do something and save the Frenchman, whom they clearly believe in from their previous attempts to sell him, from his Parisian struggles.
