Loris Karius has had some misfortune during his career.

His Champions League final capitulation was made worse, and further ingrained in everyone’s memory, by the way Liverpool handled the aftermath.

The goalkeeper was then sent on a two year loan to Besiktas, with the Reds wanting to forget he ever existed. He had some success in Turkey but eventually had to take the Istanbul club to court over four months of unpaid wages.

Liverpool released him last summer, then in September he arrived at Newcastle United as a back-up option. That saw him start against Manchester United in the EFL Cup final, and his performance didn’t do his reputation any harm.

Karius could now find some good fortune, with InterLive reporting he’s an option for Inter Milan this summer. The Serie A side are looking for a back-up option and would prefer that to be a free agent.

With the player’s Newcastle contract expiring, Karius fits the bill.

The transfer would also suit the German’s life away from football. In a relationship with Diletta Leotta, who is a famous TV presenter in Italy, the couple are expecting their first child.

So, a free transfer to Inter and the ability to be with his growing family… not a bad turn of luck for Loris Karius.
