At the weekend, RMC Sport reported Alexander Isak is likely to stay at Newcastle United amid approaches from other clubs, including from Saudi Arabia.

Al-Hilal have identified the striker as their main target, after failing to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

L’Equipe now report the Middle East club are well aware it’s not easy to take Isak away from Newcastle. That hasn’t put them off and they’ve been negotiating for several days.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have already started talks with the 25-year-old’s entourage and are aware that the Magpies are asking for €130m.

The Sweden international has agreed to open negotiations with the Saudi club, without giving an approval to the transfer. The report makes it clear he’s agreed to only hold talks to find out about Al-Hilal’s financial package and sporting project.

Saudi newspaper Al Riyadh claims the Newcastle star is the priority target for Al-Hilal.

He’s represented by Universal Twenty Two, and Gonzalo Gaitán, the agency’s agent, spoke to Al Riyadh. The representative says his client may soon make a decision after analysing all options available on the table.

“We are already studying and analysing all the options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player,” he said.

Gaitán doesn’t specify whether Isak will be at Newcastle next season.
