Nahuel Molina was last linked to the Premier League in 2023, when it was reported Aston Villa were keen on signing the Atlético Madrid defender. Nothing came of that and the 27-year-old right back, or right wing back, remains with the Spanish club.
The World Cup winner’s contract with Los Rojiblancos lasts until 2027 so there’s not a huge amount of pressure in that regard for Diego Simeone’s side. He’s played 43 matches this season and whilst he may not always be a starter, he’s clearly an important part of Atlético Madrid’s squad.
Saturday’s edition of Marca reports Newcastle United, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have ‘expressed interest’ in Molina, who the Spanish newspaper praise for his humbleness and professionalism. Liverpool are also said to be keen, having considered the Argentine as a potential replacement for Trent John Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool look to have secured Jeremie Frimpong for that that role so it’s unlikely they’d move forward. Should Newcastle United want to, Marca believe the asking price would be around €30m.
Atlético Madrid want to keep him, and the whole Marca article feels like an excuse to praise him and explain his importance, perhaps with Newcastle United and Liverpool dragged in for drama.
