On Monday, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Newcastle United ‘appear intent’ on placing a bid for Torino’s Perr Schuurs.
The Magpies wanting to sign the defender is backed up by Tuttosport and DAZN, relayed by Calciomercato, on Tuesday. The latter’s title claims a ‘super offer’ would arrive at the Serie A side from Newcastle for the 23-year-old.
Within the report, it’s explained the 23-year-old is ‘very popular’ with the English club, who would be ready to offer €35m to Torino.
Schuurs has impressed in his debut season at the Serie A side and this has seen his suitors list grow. That’s according to Tuttosport, who state anyone who knocks on Torino chief Urbano Cairo’s door must present a ‘mountain of millions’ for the Dutchman.
Schuurs has a contract until 2026 and there’s no need for his employer to sell him, also because he wants to continue one more season at Torino. At the same time, the interest shown by Newcastle and other clubs has seen Torino rub their hands.
Torino will only consider selling Schuurs in the summer if there’s an indispensable offer. The report adds Cairo expects a fee of around €45-50m for him.
Both DAZN and Tuttosport state Newcastle’s ‘super offer’ will be around €35-37m, which is €10-15m short of Cairo’s demands.
It needs to be seen whether the two parties can find a middle-ground in the next window.
