Earlier on Thursday, we covered some reports in Italy about Newcastle United’s attempts to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.

The gist of it was the Magpies wanted to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible, and the next 24 hours were the timeframe they had in mind.

Well, if the latest from Calciomercato is anything to go by, then Newcastle are going to get their wish granted.

The outlet brings their latest updates on the situation, and there is good news for the St James’ Park side, as they claim the transfer is now seen as a ‘done deal’.

That’s because the two clubs have now ‘entered the phase in which the economic contours’ are becoming much clearer, with a fee of €70m + €5m in bonuses on the table.

Dan Ashworth has been in Milan ‘to define the final details’ with an aim to ‘return to England with signed contracts’.

As for Tonali himself, he has ‘given the green light’ to a six-year contract worth €7.5m per year net plus bonuses, making him Newcastle’s ‘most expensive signing ever’.

While Milan will benefit massively from this, it’s revealed that Brescia will not be receiving any resale percentage from the deal, but will be entitled to ‘classic solidarity contribution’, which should be of around €3m.
