On Wednesday, RMC Sport reported Manchester United are ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi. It was also stated Erik ten Hag will soon hold talks with the defender.

The talks between the 25-year-old and the Red Devils seem to have taken place, if a report from Foot Mercato is to be believed.

Manchester United have shifted their focus on the Frenchman after Bayern Munich overtook them in the chase for Napoli star Kim Min-jae.

It’s said the centre-back is having discussions with Ten Hag’s side over a possible move in this window. The website states the potential deal to take him to Old Trafford is ‘heating up’.

Foot Mercato have also provided a tweet, where their journalist, Sébastien Denis, says there’s been ‘ongoing discussions’ between the centre-back and Manchester United. He further adds the player is ‘very close’ to leaving the Ligue 1 side.

On Wednesday, journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported Monaco will need €40m to start talks over a deal for Disasi.

Disasi scored six goals and managed four assists from 49 games for Monaco last season.
